A few easy and organic ways to rid pests in your garden. Plant a lavender hedge around the onion patch to protect from onion maggot, lavender around fruit trees also helps to deter coding moth.

Rosemary planted near carrots deters carrot fly and bean beetle.  A few sprigs of rosemary in the house placed with clothes will help deter silverfish and moths. Put sage bushels near doorways to keep ants away. When sage is planted in the vegetable garden it helps to keep the mice away. Plant fennel and lemon grass near doorways, windows and outdoor seating areas this will help deter mosquitoes and flies. Fresh fennel in your pets bedding and rubbed on their coats will help to deter fleas.

Protect cabbage, beans and tomatoes by planting basil and marigolds nearby. Garlic and dishsoap spray can be used to help ward off aphids, wooly aphids, bean fly, stink and horned bugs and caterpillars.Steep 3 – 4 garlic cloves in about 1/2 litre of water, once cooled add 1 – 2 tablespoons of regular dishsoap (sunlight) pour into spray bottle and spray infestation.  This may take several days, best to spray out of hot sun.
