Rock Gardens

More Information

A rock garden, also known as a rockery or an alpine garden

Rock gardens can turn grassy areas and awkward difficult-to-mow slopes into a low maintenance garden. If you have a sloped property, a rock garden is ideal to prevent erosion and provide anchors and shelters for plants. For those of you with flat gardens, don’t worry about being left out. A berm rock garden is a type of raised bed with several rock groupings, which can be built on level ground.

Sunny slopes are ideal for creating a rock garden, as the slope’s natural incline automatically provides good drainage. In other words, when you’re done landscaping, you can just step back and enjoy your garden with occasional watering or perhaps removing a weed or two.  Choose lower growing plants, drought resistant plants, creeping and native plants – these are generally labeled as such at your local nursery.

Get creative!
Why not add solar lights, garden ornaments even a low maintenance water feature!
